Rental interior design: What does your home say about you?

Rental interior design: What does your home say about you?

Whether we’d like to admit it or not, our rental interior design is a reflection of who we are: our values, our lifestyle, our interests, our stage of life. Of course, this has nothing to do with the size, state, or location of our homes, but rather, how we choose to decorate it and how we live day-to-day.

Let’s investigate what your rental interior design says about you.

The put your feet up rental home

When you see a stark white home, immaculately clean from top to bottom, without a sense of personality or character, it can feel cold and unwelcoming. The put your feet up rental is the total opposite.

Yes, it might not be the tidiest home – kids’ toys on the floor, blankets on the couch, the mess from a home-cooked meal on the countertop – but it is a happy, lived-in home. It’s okay to eat on the couch, and there’s no ‘good room.’ The people within are busy enjoying life, and they aren’t too worried about keeping every surface scrubbed and sparkling.

The picture-perfect rental home

On the other end of the spectrum, there are rental houses that are so thought-out and so curated that guests feel uneasy. If anything is disturbed or moved out of its place, the entire masterpiece is destroyed.

This doesn’t mean that the picture-perfect home is an unhappy one. Perhaps the tenants love interior design, are expert organisers, or simply hate clutter.

We tend to associate these interiors with people who have it all together – they aren’t late, they overachieve, and they don’t miss a day of work.

The just for sleeping rental home

Some find solace and escape in their homes. People who create just for sleeping rental homes are quite the opposite.

They see their home as a practicality – somewhere to eat, sleep, and shower. They aren’t hung up on the details, and often furnish their homes with hand-me-downs and garage sale finds.

People in these types of rentals love adventure and thrive in the outdoors. They may be studying, training for a marathon, or climbing the career ladder – either way, their home is not the be-all and end-all.

Creative types tend to express their vision in their interior design choices, effortlessly combining modernism and country chic in a way that’s timeless and wholly unique.

These homes contain a lifetime of carefully selected treasures, each with their own story to tell. They are certainly not minimalists but instead celebrate a sort of bohemian chaos through meaningful clutter.
